Different Types of Women's Socks for Different Occasions

At first glance, it may seem that women’s socks are all the same. But, take a closer look at the socks in your sock drawer and you’ll see that there are many different types of women’s socks from which to choose. Different types of women’s socks include ankle socks, crew socks, dress socks, fashion socks, knee-high socks, over-the-knee socks, sports socks and so much more! This article will help you learn more about the different types of women’s socks and give you tips on how to wear them properly!

Everyday socks

These socks aren’t too fancy, but they’re not casual either. They are just right! You could wear them to work, a coffee date or even to an interview. Every woman should have these in their sock drawer.

Sporty socks

When you think of sporty socks, you probably picture a pair that you wear with running shoes or tennis shoes. Those are known as sports socks and can have extra cushioning to give your feet some extra comfort when you’re active. They can also be moisture-wicking so that your feet stay dry and don’t smell bad. Athletic socks usually come in bright colors or funky patterns, so they make a great fashion statement too! When shopping for athletic socks, it’s good to look at fit (so they don’t slip down) and weight (they shouldn’t be too heavy). Just make sure they aren't too thick--the point is to stay cool while exercising!

Fashion socks

Fancy socks are a big trend, and rightly so! There’s nothing better than a pair of cute socks to brighten up your outfit. I have several pairs and have just discovered Philosockphy brand. The husband and wife team who started these socks did so because they were both teachers in a high school located in Brooklyn, New York. They created fashion socks after having enough with seeing their students wear plain black boots, sneakers, or any shoe that was deemed cool at their age—but they always saw their students wearing plain boring stockings or no tights at all during winter. That sparked an idea and quickly turned into an ingenious business idea where they could start a company that made affordable stylish clothing under $10 per pair.

Cotton socks

These are your regular, run-of-the-mill socks. You wear them with tennis shoes, dress shoes and sandals. Cotton socks will cost less than most other kinds of socks on average and they're comfortable to wear under any type of shoe or sandal you can think of. If you're looking for a more durable kind of cotton sock that'll hold up against high heels, rugged terrain and vigorous exercise, then it's probably worth springing a few extra dollars on a pair (or two) of Merino wool socks instead. The good news is there are different kinds to suit all occasions!

Going sockless

Forgetting to put on a pair of socks can make your feet sweaty and stinky, even if you don’t wear shoes. This is why some people choose to go sockless in summer. It can also be helpful if you want to show off your shoes and pedicure. But one thing that no one talks about is how going sockless may cause chafing around your toes and heel. If you have uncomfortable friction around these areas, try wearing socks that are made from material such as cotton, wool or silk. They'll wick away moisture and keep you cool, too!
