Philosockphy's Sock of the Month: 5 Unique Ways to Fold Your Socks

Philosockphy's sock of the month: 5 Unique Ways to Fold Your Socks

What’s the best way to fold your socks? While most people would say to simply throw them in the laundry basket, this only leads to the awkward moment when you reach down and pull out an old, mismatched sock that looks like it came from the sorting hat at Hogwarts. It doesn’t have to be that way! Check out these five unique ways to fold your socks and make your laundry experience a little more enjoyable.

Step 1: Determine the Kind of Folding You'd Like to Do

-If you're looking for a fun way to fold your socks that will keep them from getting tangled up in your drawer, opt for one of these five types of folding.

-1. The Bowtie: For this method, simply fold your sock in half and tie it with a bow.

-2. The Bagel Twist: Roll up your sock and make a knot at the end like you would with a bagel, then use both hands to twist it into a knot.

-3. The Conical Roll: This style involves rolling your socks into cone shapes and stacking them one on top of each other so they are perpendicular to one another.

Step 2: Start with a Pair that Matches

The first way is called the pair that matches. This is a really cool sock folding technique because it looks nice and you can make sure that all your socks match. It might take a little bit longer, but it will be worth it in the end. Simply fold your socks so they match on one side and then fold them again in half so they match on the other side too. You can also do this with socks that are slightly different shades or patterns if you want to mix things up a bit. This would work well for men who wear dress socks all day long.

Step 3a) For Cherry Blossom Style, Remove One (1) Sock

As a woman, it can be difficult to find socks for men that are both fun and stylish. In lieu of going out and spending hours on end shopping at stores, why not invest in a sock subscription service? I found Philosockphy's sock of the month club while browsing Instagram one day and I was intrigued. The best part is that they offer a monthly sock subscription service with five different ways you can fold your socks.

I opted for their 'Purple Monsoon Style', which has six pairs of socks in different colors that are all folded into a colorful bouquet. I also receive an awesome sock club t-shirt every month as well as a customized card with my name on it that tells me what style they've chosen for me this month.

Step 3b) For Egg Carton Style, Remove Both (2) Socks

Remove both socks from one side of the egg carton and place one sock inside. This works best for short socks or ankle socks that are easier to fold in half, but can also work for full-length dress socks. Once you've got one sock on each side, be sure to fill up any empty slots with a second sock and then repeat on the other side. Again, this is easiest for shorter styles, but can be done with full-length dress socks if you're more patient.

Step 4a) For Fan, Orient your socks in opposite directions Section: Step 4b) For Shelf, Orient your socks in parallel

Step 4b) For Shelf, Orient your socks in parallel-

Start with one pair of socks and place it on top of the other so that they are both facing in the same direction. Then, fold them over again so that they are now facing opposite directions and then lay them out on a shelf. Repeat for as many pairs of socks as you have. Note: Make sure to spread out all your socks so that they don't overlap each other or create a big pile on one side of the shelf!
