Philosockphy's Sock of the Month: What's the Best Material for Socks?
Philosockphy's sock of the month: What's the Best Material for Socks?
What makes the perfect sock? It’s a matter of personal preference, but my favorite socks are ones that are comfortable and don’t slip around inside my shoes, no matter how hot or cold it is outside or how hard I’m running. Philosockphy, a company that specializes in helping customers choose the right pair of socks for their needs, recently sent me some of their latest offerings to test out and review. After wearing them in all kinds of conditions (and through countless washes), here’s my verdict on each of the three pairs I received.

Cotton
Philosockphy believes cotton is the best material for socks because it provides a comfortable, breathable and gentle material that is perfect for all occasions. Cotton has been around since before the dawn of history, and is one of the most versatile natural materials in existence. It can be spun into thread, woven into fabric, knitted or crocheted into a huge range of different items. It's even used to make artificial snow!

Merino Wool
Wool is a natural fiber that has a lot of benefits. It's lightweight, it doesn't create static electricity, it resists odor and moisture, and it will provide you with some insulation from the elements. Merino Wool is one type of wool that is known for being soft, comfortable, durable and eco-friendly. You can't go wrong with wool!

Bamboo
With a sock subscription, you'll get to choose from awesome socks club, best crew socks, best sock of the month club. You'll never have to worry about running out or forgetting and will always have a fresh new pair on hand in your sock drawer! Plus, you can't go wrong with colorful ankle socks which come in fun men's ankle socks, cool mens ankle socks and funky dress socks.

Hemp
A sustainable crop that is not only eco-friendly, but also moisture regulating and anti-bacterial. Hemp socks are softer than wool and more durable than cotton. They're also a natural alternative to other synthetic materials like nylon and acrylics. Plus, they have a better elasticity and will last longer than cotton socks. And while they're cooler in the summer, hemp socks retain warmth in winter time, making them perfect year round! The style is great too--they come in a wide range of colors, patterns, styles, thicknesses and lengths. With prices starting at $5 per pair you really can't go wrong with these awesome socks!

Synthetics
The best socks are, of course, a matter of personal preference. However, Philosockphy's sock-of-the-month club is dedicated to making it easier to find socks you love by offering a wide variety of styles and materials - from fun dress socks to fun men's ankle socks and everything in between! Our favorite material is synthetic because they're great at wicking away moisture so your feet stay dry even when it gets hot. Plus, they're usually more durable than other types of fabrics which means they'll last longer.
