It's Friday night and you have a date in the morning - so naturally, you want your clothes picked out and ready to go. And what better way than with freshly folded socks? If you're like most people, you've got a favorite pair of socks that you always reach for first. But if all your socks are mixed together in one giant pile, it can be hard to pick just one. That's where sock folding comes in! You may already be an expert at this method, but chances are there are some variations on it that you haven't tried yet. Below we break down five different ways to fold your socks so they're easy to pick out in the morning.

3) Plaits

1. There are a few different ways to fold socks, but plaits is definitely one of my favorites. To get started, grab two socks and pull them apart at the seam. Lay one sock on top of another and create a mini crease with your fingers about halfway down the length of each sock. Now, just take each piece in your hand and braid it together! This works best with socks that are made from natural fibers like cotton or wool so if you're working with synthetic blends, you may want to try another method instead. 2. Keep braiding until you reach the end and then tie it off with a rubber band or any other kind of string that will work as a tight closure.

5) Origami

The Origami is a unique way to fold your socks. It has been proven that it provides more space in your sock drawer, but not everyone is willing to invest their time into folding their socks up this way. The Origami can take a little bit of practice and patience, but once you get the hang of it, you'll be able to do it in less than five minutes. If you're looking for something new and different when it comes to your sock drawer, this is a great option!
Originally from Japan and China, folding socks into neat squares has been a Japanese tradition since at least 1907. The origami style was first used as an easy way to pack socks away in suitcases without damaging them.
