5 Tips for choosing the right sock

Are you in the market for new socks? If so, you’re not alone – everyone can use more socks in their life, right? If you’re trying to find the perfect pair, here are five helpful tips to consider when choosing your next pair of socks. Consider our sock guide the next time you need to add some new ones to your wardrobe!

1) Material

The material is one of, if not THE most important factor in finding a quality pair of socks. The material dictates how much wear you can get out of your socks. It also plays a role in comfort and breathability as well. The most common materials are: cotton, wool, nylon and blends such as cotton/nylon or cotton/polyester blends. Which is best? Well it depends on what you're looking for. Cotton has very little moisture wicking abilities so some people don't like to wear them with athletic shoes since they will get wet inside and uncomfortable when they sweat. Some people prefer 100% wool but be warned that 100% wool socks have been known to be extremely thick and hot!

2) Length

Socks are an essential component of every man’s wardrobe. We can choose from a wide variety of materials and patterns, but when it comes to size and fit, making a wrong choice will result in an uncomfortable wearing experience. This is why we have decided to create a sock guide, to help you choose which pair will match your footwear best. Here are 5 tips for choosing stylish socks that suit every occasion

3) Style

Here are some fashion tips to make sure you find a pair of socks that look as good on your feet as they do in your wardrobe. Remember, socks are accessories, so keep an eye out for styles and colors you like. In terms of comfort and warmth, synthetic fibers tend to outperform cotton, but if your feet tend to be especially sweaty or smelly (if you play sports or live in a warm climate), it’s worth paying extra attention to socks made with wool. You can’t go wrong with black or white—these colors work well with just about anything—but try pairing them with other hues that complement your personal style.

4) Color

Socks come in all different shapes and sizes to match your shape and size. By shape, we mean how your socks fit over your feet. The common options are round (crew), ribbed, flat, or knee-high. Some brands even have specially shaped socks for sports use (think soccer socks). By size, we mean what type of shoe you plan on wearing them with. If you’re not sure what type of shoes to look out for, a good rule of thumb is to think about your favorite pair of shoes. If they’re running/walking/training shoes then go with a running/walking/training sock!

5) Sock Shape

Socks aren’t just one shape—though it can sometimes seem that way. So how do you know which shape will work best for your needs? For starters, flat and sport socks don’t usually come in any other shapes—those are good options if you need heavy support or extra cushioning. Tube socks (sometimes called ankle socks) are what most people think of when they imagine a pair of white tube socks with a navy top. They come in different sizes and offer some cushioning, but they aren’t very supportive.
